That's freezing Shanghai...
I'm back home in Singapore. I've got too much to share but so much so that I do not know how and where to start. So forget it...
SG is really hot, from a city of -3oc to a 28oc's Sunny island. I almost blew up when i arrive. But nothing beats being at home with my parents, hanging out with all you SGans, and most of all; my fetish for SG food...
Ok, i'll be home till 2 feb...pls rock me up in SG.

I woke up this morning feeling a bit home sick...Just felt like listening to Parousia's Exchange album. Wow, It's so nice and I'm playing it loud in my speakers now. And the songs remind me of the years gigging with the band.
Ok, I'm going to get change. Going for horse-back riding later...hope i don't break my arms again!...kekeke
How i wish if i could get Wei wei and Den to come out for a drink, but well I'm not in SG.

The Nokia mobile phone that i have been using in Shanghai is down and i just got a Motorola V3. I really hate to spend $ on phone...
I'll be heading back to Shanghai this afternoon. The funny thing is I'm not excited this time round. I'm getting sick of the life-style there...it's unbelievable as I have been there for only 4 months.
The only thing I hate about Singapore is the damn weather..."so hot".
There are some important projects ahead in the next few months...so it's time to tighten my seat belt again...
Ok, you wouldn't really see me updating the blog when I'm in Shanghai...
So Sunny is going to MIA till mid Jan...

Hi! I'm back in Singapore now. Singapore is so hot. I touched ground on last friday night and will be back in Shanghai this friday afternoon. I will not be home till Chinese New year.
Wow, i really miss and love Singapore. Such a great living environment and systematic working life style. Shanghai is sucks but it's a big city with big accounts, top investors & lots of opportunities...
But sometimes, I really wish to come back home to work...
Also, I have stopped playing bass..been really busy....

Oh yes, I'm listening to the acoustic album that Lloyd copied for me before he left Singapore. It's so nice to hear his vocal again. And yes, i borrowed Switchfoot's new album from Wei Wei...COOL!
I also borrowed City Harvest's Cross album from Chewy. I love it so much and I think KC did such a great job in the songwriting. The album is so unique with it's own style. Never before in any praise and worship album.

On Tuesday, Wei Wei brought me to Cafe Cosmo at 47 amoy street. It's the most uncommercialised indie-pop cafe in Singapore. That's what i like about it... I'll be passing 10 of our Exchange cds to them as they sell indie cds and lots of good local bands.

Ok, i've got so much to say but I'm stopping here.....
so when is my next gig?....kekekeke

Shanghai's internet kind of pisses me off. They actually control and block certain type of websites here. I can actually log on to www.blogspot.com to write my blog and i can also see your posted comments thru my email. But I can't see my own blog and neither could i get into your blogs too. So guess I'll only get to read your blogs once every few months...

Finally I have reached the place. I got a big problem. Everywhere everything is in chinese txt, even the computer's start button is in chinese. The fact that I'm not a tourist but I'm working here. Therefore I bought 2 dictionaries to study in order to communicate better. I really have to change to their culture style. Being unable to read chinese as well as them is a weakness in Shanghai. They won't think that Singaporean is better in english... example, I order a cheaper noodle from a women in the food-court today (my first meal in china) but she gave me the most expensive rice and insisted me to pay after i told her that she gave a wrong order. (she wants to earn $) Guess what? she said in chinese " what to do if you don't speak chinese properly". Now then I know that my singaporeans' chinese is so poor.
Over in Shanghai, everyone grabs for any chances or opportunities.. They worked till late hrs and the pace is faster than Singapore. I realised that they are very smart too. They always find ways to earn more $ and i think they can think/react very fast... guess it's the competitive environment that they are born in... no choice, I just have to think faster, fasten my pace and be smart too...always be very beware of what's going on around...
As I mentioned about grabbing for chances...example. If you see a cab, you got to run fast and get into the cab....by standing there waving for taxi will never get a taxi...it's their culture, noboby will pity you. If you want to survive here, you got to fight for it...
I really can't image how will I become when I'm back in Singapore...kekeke..

O yes, I'm stay in a condo, it's in the shanghai city. level 36... i can see shanghai's tallest building (Pearl building)..i took some pixs from my apartment but has got problem with my ftp uploading..do come back again for the pictures.

Thanks for all the friendship and being there for me all this while. Not forgetting friends from Parousia, City harvest, SIM and RMIT design class, Army(3SIR), and of cause my Secondary school's buddies from Ping Yi...everybody...

Parousia's final gig just ended at 'The Third Place' cafe.

We (Parousia) started off in the mid afternoon doing sound check at Fort Canning for ' Sonic Fest 05'. The weather was terrible; super humid. (I changed 3 t-shirts by the end of the day).
All of us were kind of excited and happy over this 'waited' day (the great departure gigs) but also sad as this may be our last gig. There is this special bond within the band. We have builded this special friendship in serving God thru our music. Not only to ourselves but also towards our fans and friends. Knowing that we may not be gigging together and hanging out with our fans/friends after gigs again.
Lloyd is heading US for his PHD on 1 aug, Jeff is heading back to US with his wife and baby for studies and work on national day, Wen is heading for 4 years of drums studies in Boston after dec, and I'm leaving to work in Shanghai this weekend.
We played the sonic fest gig at 6.30pm. The sound was excellent. (yeah! i met my ex-classmates 'Karene' at Sonic Fest, for one moment, I missed my class too)

After it, we headed back for the last gig at 'Third Place'. We were the last band and we ended really late (around 11.30). Most of Parousia friends came for this gig. O yes, i played a song with "Skive'(one of the bands before us), it was very last min thing, so kind of like a surprise...
The presence of God was really with Parousia. Even as we start playing. I knew deep in my heart that this is our 'LAST'... Tears came down from Jeff's eyes as he prayed and Lloyd broke down and wept when he sang 'I'll let You lead'. I could see most of our friends/fans were sad too. God's presence was definitely there. It's has been so many years of serving in Parousia ministry.

Like what Jeff said to the audience - we do not want to leave behind this Parousia legacy but it is Jesus that we want people to remember when they think of Parousia. The band has really come so far in these 12 years. Jeff brought me into Parousia in 2002, never will I know that I'll treasure this music and friendship so much now... My heart is heavy with the presence of God now and I'm really thankful for everything. REALLY THANKFUL ... It has been so long since the last time I wept in the presence of God. It is not just Parousia but it's Christ in Parousia that makes it so special. Parousia is special to me and I know that Parousia has been special to many too. Now I'm starting to miss the live sound of Lloyd's singing, Jeff's guitars, Caleb's sounds and Wen's groove... and I missing 'third place' too

We ended off giving our last autograph session and went for a late supper fellowship at 'Sampa Bedok' with some close friends. O yes, We each received a sunflower from this very nice & sweet sister...

What an unforgettable and memoriable day for me... the final encounter of Parousia.

Death To Default Design Exhibition and New Job

Design Awards are Meaningless.

Gone are the days when winning a creative design award was a rare opportunity and that those who won really deserve recognition. Awards should give us opportunities to view the best of offer, raising standards to stimulate our design work. But these awards shows don’t seem to show effective communication for the industry. The winners’ works are mainly their own self-promotions, work for their creative related printers and friends, and other companies communicating services for designers.

It becomes so much so that this group of designers design for their fame in awards recognition. Whereby, there’s another group of designers who never submit for awards but has always focus on producing great solutions and design for corporate clients.
Awards event companies have also taken this golden opportunity to earn from these awards driven designers. Asking for an entry fee of around S$150. per submission and paying around $80 for the dinner to get the result whereby you get cheap teabreak buffet offered. No wonder most of the best and good design studios have stopped their submissions. If it’s really the heart of these awards companies to bring credit to those great and ingenious designers of the year, then it shouldn’t be submitted by individuals or require an entry fee. MTV awards and The Golden Horse awards have never ask for any submission fee. They just want to give credits to the hard work of the artists for that year.

Title: Self- induced Insomniac There never seems to be enough hours in a day. How perfect it would be if I never needed sleep. The amount of time we have on earth is finite and sleeping two- thirds of our life away seems a waste. Time waits for no man, and thus I have used a clock to represent my wish to go on forever.
It's the back of a small manual clock.

My band's keyboardist and Vocalist are doing their parts in Audioplex now. So I'm like hanging around inside; shooting some live recording pics. O yes, I'm using the studio's Macintosh now. Guess our coming full length album will be out by May as we have scheduled for mastering in April. Do check out this coming album...

Trip to JB on Sat

I went to JB with my friend Wei Wei on Sat 26/02/05 as I'm not playing in church over the weekend. So I have some free time. We started our hang out in the mid afternoon but something happened that causes me to miss Wei wei. After few hrs of waiting, I found Wei wei who was then relief to find me walking in Plaza Pelangi. He told me that he didn't have his HP reception to contact me.
I managed to get some cheap and really cool polo t-shirts again from my usual F.O.S. Then we proceeded for Star Ark Cafe (JB's Muchuan). I saw the same guitarist performing....'forgot his name again'. He is a very good guitar player. He has got great sense of rhythm and a huge repertoire of Chinese pop songs. Adding that he can sing very well too, better than the female singer who was with him. But that female singer is very sweet looking. Wei wei told me her name is JingWen.
Guess what? Wei wei tried to bring home a box of chewing gum and was stopped at the Custom but Police officer was polite to him. I told him not give chances for a bad day... Well! we still managed to buy our cheap DVDs to be send over.
Finally, we got some wine at Fisherman Village together with some friends back home...
